Alison Carmichael has launched a new range of Made by Alision Carmichael products. We had the honour of Printing her beautiful work.

The gift tags were inspired by Lewis Carrol’s Alice In Wonderland story & were letter-pressed in a range of colours on a pristine white Colorplan

Build: Dove Bunting

Build aproached us to help with a fun and worthwhile project; with a set budget they needed to create a product that could sell in the Design Museum Shop!

*Simple really, printing 4 colour process on recycled grey-boards, sprinkle a *bit of magic, and the kids have a wonderful product that should make loads of cash for their chosen charity. *Build

We are very proud to have been involved in this years Design Ventura schools competition, set & run by the Design Museum, London. The annual competition encourages schoolchildren to think about design in everyday life and the challenge is to design a product for sale in the Shop.

This years winners were Haberdashers Askes Hatcham college in South London, who designed Dove Bunting, based on the Design Museum Shop bird.

The bunting is on sale and can be brought from the Design Museum Shop & also online
. It costs £9.95, and all profits from sales will be donated to Greenpeace which is the winning schools chosen charity, so buy lots for friends and family!

GPis10 – Mailer

‘GP is 10′ is now off and running and the first lucky recipients are starting to receive their copies of our GP10 mailer!

Packaged in a specially designed/constructed mailing box (with our own Colorplan Barry™ duplexed to the inner). Inside is a wallet holding ten items featuring contributions from Build, Sanna Annukka, Timothy Saccenti & John O’Reilly

This is a gift from us to our customers who have supported us over the last ten years. We are very proud to have worked with Build, Sanna, Timothy & John on this project. This is also a testament to everyone here that has put the time and effort in to making all the pieces as good as they are.

This would not have been possible without the huge contribution of the creative’s involved, so a very big thank you to them!

Most important at this time is all the people that make up Generation Press. Every detail on this has seen everyone contribute and it is their skill and craftmanship that has made this what it is – A massive thank you to all at GP.

Ye-ha! an event with Anthony Burrill, that has to be unmissable, especially as it is being held at our favourite gallery.

We used cast coated stock to produce these invitations and envelopes, to give them a very high gloss finish one side, with an uncoated reverse. when you see the art you will understand why…

D&AD Programme – NB: Studio – 19097

D&AD Introduced us to NB: Studio to do the tickets for the awards evening and after such a successful collaboration, we were really looking forward to what we would be asked to produce for the actual awards evening.
-
This is the D&AD Awards Ceremony Programme. Cover stock was the black rubbery Plike from GF Smith with a lovely Mowhawk text sheet, also from the GF Smith range. Having foil blocked the previous project we had too many images to foil again so we screen printed the cover and printed the text lithographically.
-
The cover really worked well, a little tricky but with some care and attention came out beautifully. The cover folded back on its self wrapping around the programme to give a clean spine, when opened it revealed the gorgeous white stitches – this really helped sharpen the lead of this pencil!

NB: Studio were great throughout the project and really trusted us, especially with the fact there was no time to proof any of the processes. NB: Studio were under pressure, time was tight but no compromises were taken and the programmes arrived in time, and looking great!

D&AD Awards Tickets – NB: Studio – 19028

D&AD Awards dinner tickets, designed by NB:Studio

This is our most recent work for D&AD and our first real opportunity to work with NB:Studio,
D&AD had put us together for this project, it was a real pleasure to work with the guys at NB they really valued our input into how best to produce this ticket and envelope. We hadn’t worked together before so building trust quickly was key to getting this project to look so good!
-
One side of the ticket was was foil-blocked in white and yellow foil on black Colorplan, the reverse was printed lithographically on white Colorplan, we then duplexed the two together and die cut with radius corners to give a lovely sturdy 700 gsm Ticket.
-
The envelope was was made from Black Colorplan with a large foil blocked image in white foil that came out really crisp and clear, we then die cut the envelope and made it up, with a die cut sticker to secure it closed.

Congratulations to NB:Studio for such amazing visuals and livery for the ceremony, it was mind blowingly good!

Wow look at this for a line up, proud to have graced our presses with this beauty, this was a labour of love, great imagery, great products and a great design.
-
We were afforded the time with this project to do things in the right order! working with the designer Michael (from Build) from the very beginning.
-
This allowed us to plan each element including getting the sections with the scores on the inserts working out so when all the sheets came together in the slip case, both scored edges were equal.
-
Another attention to detail was getting the wrap around slip case just right so the depth of the capacities were wide enough to hold the inserts but not to wide to let them fall out.
-
One of my favourite aspects on this is the use of the litho printed white on the recycled grey board along side the foil blocking & debossing, a great example of using alternative materials and turning them into something special!

A beautiful set of postcards made into a die cut book with an elastic band holding them together. This is a great way for photo agencies to show off their artists in a book format whilst still allowing recipients to put their favourite Images on the walls or notice boards for future reference.
The Customer has been thrilled with the feedback from their clients!

There is no one better than the talented Mr Richard Bull from Yacht Associates for colour retouching images, these images were perfect, mixed in with using our FOGRA colour certification and press calibrations; We think this is litho print at its best.

A lovely pair! We have used foil blocking, screen printing, duplexing, die cutting, radius corners and gilt edging all going into this project and to a tight deadline! With all these processes going on its great how restrained and classy it looks.

This invitation and envelope is a bit special with an embossed colorplan envelope printed with litho white ink, die cut and made up by ourselves. The invitation is a flockage stock, debossed with litho print on the reverse.

Word up to the guys at Kent Lyons, look out for more posts of their work, I think they could be in the running for the most posted clients :) always using print and processes in the most imaginative ways, real fans of the printed word!

Self promo piece for Unit 9, we used a box board so the die-cutting formed exactly and without those annoying paper fibers flaking off around the edges, the sleeve had to be precisely made so the slider sat in the perfect position with description and illustration revealed in the apertures.

Simon Waterfall called me in to the Poke head quarters to tell me about the amazing D&AD Pencil exhibition he had put together! He wanted a programme of sorts which included a quote from nearly every president of D&AD from its inception, highlighting what their favourite work from their year of tenure was. It was brilliant and an opportunity I couldn’t miss, I asked if I could invite a designer to make it as good as it could possibly be? And it was a unanimous leap of joy when M.C.Place of Build fame agreed to get involved and the rest they say is history, a real combination of recycled stocks and a touch of Colorplan! Plus using our favourite Cyclus 100% offset for the text pages, this is a real compostable beauty.
